* Paul was very sweet and agreed to do this
interview for my site. Thankyou very much Paul!! *
Emily: Is there one particular memory that stands out which has been your favourite while performing?
Paul:
It's hard to think about a favorite performance. There are so many variables. Be it a monitor mix, my guitar sound, or just
my playing on a given night. I might have played bad one night but the crowd was so amazing that it really didn't matter.
MEAT LOAF might have had an awesome night, which makes for a great time even though I stunk up the place. What makes it even
more interesting is that I might have a real solid performance but Meat Loaf might not. So there goes my vibe. One great example
of this was London's WEMBLY (Dec. 2003). I was so stoked to be there, a lot of history in the venue. I was playing great and
then the next thing I see is my boss, more importantly, MY FRIEND passed-out on the stage! The show gets cut short. EMS is
back-stage monitoring his heart. He leaves in an ambulance. Our bus ride back to the hotel was horrible, very quiet.
So
I just think about certain gigs rather than performances:
The one show that comes to mind is with MEAT LOAF. It was
PARTY IN THE PARK (July 6th 2003 in London's Hyde Park). It's not my favorite but the magnitude was mind blowing so I have
to mention it. Something like 128,000 people in attendance with Worldwide media coverage. Shania Twain and Beyounce were on
the bill with us (very strange for me). I come from a metal background. The pop thing is foreign.
Another one was
with ANTHRAX. It was my first time playing in San Francisco with them. Right before show time METALLICA walked into our dressing
room. I'm a huge fan of their music. Anyway, for some reason they decided to hang on my side of the stage all night. It was
very exciting and stressful.
Emily: Can you
play the bass guitar aswell?
Paul: Yes. Actually, my favorite rock star is a bass player... Gene Simmons from
KISS.
Emily: Is there anything left which you feel you still need to achieve in music?
Paul:I just want to write good songs. That's a thirst that will never be quenched.
Emily: Which band has been your favourite to play with?
Paul: MEAT
LOAF.
Emily: How many
guitars do you have??!
Paul: 34 at the present time (still growing).
Now
for Quick Fire round.....
Emily: Favourite 'Friends' character?
Paul:
Rachel. I love the way she always seem to be a little cold in the apartment. There's always a nip in the air...
Emily: Favourite part of your body? and least favourite?
Paul: Fav: The back of my left ear. Least: The back of my right ear
Emily: Favourite chocolate bar?
Paul: Hershey with almonds
Emily:
Favourite colour?
Paul: Purple
Emily:
Do you work out?
Paul: Yes.
Emily: Favourite drink?
Paul:
Sparkling water.
Emily: What colour toilet
roll do you think the President has?!
Paul: It's definitely not yellow.
Emily: Bath or shower?
Paul: Baths rule!!! That's one of the best things about touring in Europe.
The hotel tubs rock!!!!
Emily:
How tall are you?
Paul: 6'
Emily: One last question........ Can I be your personal massuese???! :D
Paul: Yes, I need
one. My lower back is tweaked!
